Making History
A Historic Contract Win: $13.4B Government Award for Eminent JV
I believe in the power of transparency and integrity in every business relationship. This page is dedicated to providing full clarity on the recent $13.4 Billion contract awarded to Eminent JV, a subsidiary of Eminent Future. As the first Black owner of a government contracting company to secure a government contract of this magnitude, I want to share the journey, challenges, and current status of this historic achievement.
The Contract Award
The contract is formally registered in the government database under FA8771-20-D-0020, confirming the $13.4 billion IDIQ award to Eminent JV. This is a momentous achievement for our community and for minority-owned businesses in general. The road to this point has been paved with determination, overcoming both internal and external challenges.
One of the most significant elements of this journey is the acknowledgment that I am the first Black owner of a firm to be awarded a contract of this size in U.S. history. This fact was communicated to me by a dedicated ally within the awarding agency who fought tirelessly for our team. They saw our vision and believed in our qualifications when many others did not.
Overcoming Challenges
It is important to address that the execution of the contract has faced delays, primarily due to two unforeseen factors:
1. COVID-19 Impact: Like many large-scale projects during the pandemic, the global crisis significantly slowed the progress of this contract. Critical steps in the execution were paused or delayed, and as we were navigating these challenges, we remained committed to fulfilling the terms of this contract.
2. Staff Turnover: The internal turnover within the government further delayed the project, which, unfortunately, I am not allowed to elaborate on publicly due to legal restrictions. However, I want to assure you that Eminent and ECS are diligently working through these challenges.
Our Partnership with ECS
An important part of our journey is the strategic acquisition that brought Eminent JV into the fold with ECS. The acquisition of InfoReliance by ECS, detailed in this press release, expanded our technical capabilities and resources. This acquisition strengthened our ability to deliver on this contract, ensuring that we had the necessary infrastructure and expertise to meet the government’s needs.
ECS, a leading provider of mission-critical solutions, was an ideal partner for the execution of this $13.4 billion contract due to its vast experience and proven capabilities across multiple domains essential to government operations. Headquartered in Fairfax, Virginia, ECS has nearly 3,800 employees, operates in 30+ states and countries, and generated $1.3 billion in revenue in 2023. These impressive figures highlight their scale and capacity to support high-demand government contracts like this one.
With a focus on delivering cutting-edge solutions to the U.S. Department of Defense and other federal agencies, ECS has distinguished itself in key areas such as cybersecurity, cloud solutions, and artificial intelligence. Furthermore, 26% of ECS’s workforce has served in the armed forces, bringing a unique perspective and commitment to their mission. These capabilities made ECS the perfect partner to help drive the success of this historic contract.
Moving Forward
This contract is not just a win for Eminent JV—it’s a win for everyone who believes in the importance of diversity in government contracting and technology innovation. It’s a reflection of the progress that can be made when we persist through challenges and break barriers.
While the journey has not been without its setbacks, I am proud of where we stand today. We are actively working to execute the contract fully, deliver exceptional value to our client, and continue to pave the way for more Black-owned businesses in the technology and government sectors.
